Computers are all around us, the come in all sorts of shapes & sizes and can be built into other devices.
But they all share some common features:
They all have a set of inputs, outputs and a processing section.
They have a program (set of instructions) that the computer carries out.
Both programs and data can be stored and retrived.
The physical parts are called hardware
The instructions or program forming the application is called software
